And now, the stories!

Participants, please leave comments on this post with the links to your fic. I'll update the list as I get responses, although I should warn you that I'm going to be asleep during a big chunk of the daylight hours (US timezones). You can always check the comments yourselves to see what's come in!
And, again, those of you who are going to need a little extra time, please comment here, even if you've already talked to me by e-mail so I can use this post to keep track of everybody's status. Current Mood: excited

Comments:
I'm going to need a bit more time.
Yep, thanks for letting me know. I'll add a note to that effect to the list. Like I said via e-mail, please let me know if you're going to need a pinch-hitter instead.
If I get a better idea that would fit Mireille's request some day, I'll dedicate it to her. This is only a vignette.
I wrote for some poor sick soul wordsunworthy, and will be posting the story as soon as I find webspace that will allow such perversion to put it in. :)
If you get totally stuck and need me to post it for you, let me know. Actually... I know you don't want to put it in your own LJ, since it's friends-locked, but if you get really stuck, there's no reason you can't just create another one... :)
Hey, it could have been worse: I almost asked (accidentally, I swear it would have been accidental) for Avon/PIRI. :D
Applause, applause! I'd assume you'd have to go AU to do an Avon/Pella, but you pulled if off very, very cleverly. :)
I especially loved the way you managed to turn Avon's speeches and actions from at least borderline-male-piggery into ironic payback.
And this is just flat out great:
"It was all about power. And Avon understood power. Power, coursing through underground conduits, heating and lighting a city as if by magic, making a heliofusion rod the most potent weapon on the planet in the face of the ignorant. Power, focused by a co-radiating crystal to generate a resistive barrier telekinetically from a minimal amount of energy input from a person acting as a human battery. And that's an inefficient sort of battery, really... this power could be drained, and far more quickly than it could be recharged. The Hommiks and the Seska owned all the power here, but Avon understood power, and that would put them on an equal footing."
Thank you so much for "my" story. :)
I may need an extra twenty-four hours on top of the twenty-four you just gave us - meeting with supervisor tomorrow, as I mentioned before. After that I'll give the thing a final kick and post it.
I'm going to put off reading my fic until I've finished the one I have to write, but thank you in advance!
Good luck! And I hope you're pleased with yours when you do read it. Man, I can not be accused of giving myself an easy assignment. :) (Not that yours was hard; it just wasn't something I'd probably have written on my own.)
Very beautiful imagery! And so much good stuff in a compact story. (Damn, I wish I could learn to write compact.) I especially enjoyed the way both Cally and Avon knew she could take him if it ever came down to hand-to-hand. Heh!

I may be a little late, but it shouldn't be by more than a couple of days.
OK. If it's going to be longer than that, please let me know!
Thank you, Kathryn! I really like the idea of Avon healed of all his pains and regrets, living on in Faery. Okay, sure, there are problems for humans there...but nothing at all compared to what he's faced in the real world.
But...does this mean Avon was a virgin? :D
Hey, do we get to see the requests people made?
Oh, yeah, I was thinking of unscreening 'em when the stories went live, and I kind of forgot. I've done that now, and you can see 'em here.
Well, the good news and the bad news is that it's turned into a nice, long, reasonably plotty fic - at least a novelette. Despite my best efforts, I'm still a week or more from the finish. Thus I'm offering labingi my sincere apologies and the choice of having it serialized, if s/he prefers that to waiting for the whole thing. The teaser is here: A Matter of Judgment, Part I, for labingi.
May I just say 'I love you' to everyone who is asking for extra time? I feel like I've just come home...
(No, I'm not asking for more time. Yet.)
Well, I'm glad it makes somebody feel better.
I'm not a horrible failure as a ficathon-organizer if I keep granting people extensions, am I? :)

I tried so *hard* to make it before deadline. And I honest to god got it posted before midnight (11:57 counts, right?) and then I looked at the result and had to start editing again. I mean, no one really wants to read about 40 pages of bolded italics, now do they? Anyway, my story "Masterpiece" written for Kerr_Avon is posted here: http://www.livejournal.com/users/wordsunworthy/6189.html#cutid1It comes with a warning: explicit m/m sex. For which I apologize. I've spent so many years on Freedom City, that I'd forgotten many people would be offended by it. After the list of requests was revealed I read through it, and cringed. Out of 17 participants, 8 included something in either what they wanted to read or what they were willing to write that makes it likely they shouldn't read my story -- which means I'm bringing nothing to the party for them. Sorry!

Hey, it's only 10:35 in my time zone, and since I'm running this thing, I'm the one who counts. Which means you made it in my the deadline. Congrats! :)
And, hey, you're writing for the person you were assigned, not for the other 16 people. They all have their own stories to read! Ain't nothing wrong with smut, IMHO, as long as it's not sprung on the uwilling and unwary, and I know your recipient is perfectly all right with it. :)

I just finished reading all the ficathon stories. Sorry for the delay but something else intervened (oooh! Shiny....) and it took me a while to get back.
I've got to say I was mighty impressed -- we're a lot of wonderful writers, ain't we? ;D
So, many thanks to AstroGirl for coming up with the idea and carrying it off so well.
