 | 02:21 pm - State of the Ficathons I've uploaded my Remix Redux story! Unfortunately, this turns out to be one of those stories I like less after finishing it up and reading over it again. (The opposite reaction, which is mercifully much more common for me, is way more pleasant and satisfying.) And I've been a very bad girl and didn't actually get it beta'd, mainly because I just wanted to be done with the darned thing. I did proofread over it very carefully, though, as I always do.
But, anyway, yay, I'm all done! And I am now without any fic deadlines at all. Which is just too weird. I must go and sign up for a matrithon prompt as soon as they open up. Current Mood: tired

 | 08:33 am - Dear Torchwood... I am very much enjoying the new Torchwood, ( highly non-specific spoilery comment you've probably seen all over LJ by now ) and all. Somewhere along the line, Torchwood stopped being mock-worthy buffoons and started being complex, competent, brave people I could really root for. But I do feel the need to address them on one point. So...
Dear Torchwood,
( Not all all spoilery, really, but I'll cut to be on the safe side ) Current Mood: highly interested

 | 02:13 pm - Now I Just Want To Watch This One Again, Too. More Pretender commentary-watching, this time on the S2 finale, "Bloodlines":
( Spoilers for the episode! ) Current Mood: tired
|
 | 08:41 am - Jack Is Back! I just watched last night's Torchwood and, ( non-spoilery reactions ) Current Mood: pleased

 | 10:17 pm - A Happy Meme A meme, snurched from sallymn, because I might be very bored later:
Give me a letter, and I'll list 10 things that make me happy that begin with that letter. Current Mood: groggy
|
 | 07:17 am - Rockin' The Commentaries Man, lately I am feeling pretty stressy, and I'm sleeping badly and having to keep myself awake at bizarre hours. These Pretender commentaries are really helping me keep my brain together. So I watched the one for S2's "Red Rock Jarod" too:
( Vaguely spoilery comments ) Current Mood: stressy

 | 10:10 am - Re-Enter The Dragon And I just played the commentary on The Pretender's S1 finale, "The Dragon House." It was reasonably good, although I didn't find it nearly as interesting as the one on the pilot episode, which was more about Jarod's character and about setting the whole series up. I will nevertheless pass along some of the more interesting bits:
( Somewhat spoilery for the episode ) Current Mood: tired

 | 02:18 am - Free Ficlet #10! Here's the last of these finally. This one is for trixieleitz, who asked for a "Stargate/Farscape crossover, involving John, Vala, and mistaken identity." Hey, I satisfied the letter of the request!
Title: Everywhere You Go... Fandom: Stargate SG-1/Farscape Characters: Vala, Crichton Rating/Warnings: G. Set after PKW for FS and during S10 for SG1. May be spoilery. Length: 100 words
( Everywhere You Go... ) Current Location: Work. Don't tell the boss. Current Mood: The A/C is too high in here.

 | 11:43 pm - Back To The Beginning I bet you all thought that now that I'm finally finished making my way through the entirety of The Pretender, you weren't going to see any more comment posts from me on the subject, huh? Well, ha! You forgot about the commentaries and extras, which I'm only just now getting around to watching.
I just played the commentary track from the pilot episode, featuring the show's creators/producers, and I learned some moderately interesting things, which I thought I would share with those of you who might be interested but don't have access to the DVDs. So...
Things I learned from the pilot commentary:
( Some spoilers for the pilot ep. ) Current Mood: having an annoying day

 | 06:15 pm - Free Ficlet #9 See? I said I'd get back to these! This one is for sallymn, who asked for "Vila and Rygel do a mirror-universe swap." Although I'm not sure if this is precisely what she had in mind... It's also crying out for a continuation, but for a free ficlet, I'm afraid this is all you get.
Title: Through the Looking Glass Fandom: Blake's 7/Farscape Characters: Vila, Rygel Rating/Warnings: G, none Length: 271 words
( Through the Looking Glass ) Current Mood: amused

 | 03:44 pm - Ficathon Pimp!
alara_r is finally kicking off the "Women Over 40" ficathon she's been talking about for a while! Check it out at matrithon. It's a prompt-based ficathon, not an exchange, and is currently open for prompt submissions. You can contribute prompts even if you're not going to write, too (or write even if you haven't contributed any prompts). I'm not 100% sure whether I'll be writing anything for it, myself -- it depends on how much time I have and whether any of the prompts leap out at me -- but I've already tossed some prompts into the mix. Because the mature women of fandom need some recognition, doggone it!
(Note: Be sure and read the definitions post if you're thinking about submitting prompts. Because it's actually kind of tricky to pin down what a "woman over 40" is when dealing with robots and aliens and immortals and such, but Alara's taken a good crack at it.) Current Mood: groggy

 | 12:51 am - Free Ficlet #8 This one is for kerravonsen, who wanted "More adventures of Jarod and Jenny!" I don't know if this is an adventure or not, but it's something.
Title: Running So Far You Come Back Fandom: The Pretender/Doctor Who Character: Jarod, Jenny, the Doctor Rating/Warnings: G. Spoilery for "The Doctor's Daughter." Length: 331 words Notes: Sequel to "Shaped By Our Futures."
( Running So Far You Come Back ) Current Mood: edgy

 | 05:52 pm - Free Ficlet #7 This is for izhilzha, who offered the joke (but no punchline) as a prompt.
Title: The Answer Is Left As an Exercise for the Reader Fandom: Numb3rs Character(s): Charlie, Don Rating/Warnings: G, no spoilers. Length: 100 words
( The Answer Is Left As an Exercise for the Reader ) Current Mood: relaxed

 | 03:02 pm - Also: Multiverse Fic In all of last night's fit-of-boredom ficleting, I almost forgot that today was my day to post my Multiverse fic! So, here it is: one Farscape/Blake's 7 fic, crossposted from multiverse5000. Though this is really only just a tiny snippet, itself.
Title: Connection Fandoms: Farscape/Blake's 7 Characters: Jenna Stannis & Pilot Rating/Warnings: G-rated. Mild spoilers for FS's "The Way We Weren't" (season 2) and B7's "Spacefall" (episode 2). Length: 379 words
( Connection ) Current Mood: content

 | 02:14 am - Free Ficlets #5 and #6. All right, so as to be somewhat less spammy, I'm combining a couple ficlets into one post. At least these ones are less silly. My brain is starting to get tired now, though, so I think this is gonna be it for me for tonight, even though I should still be up for a little while yet. Maybe I'll try to get to the remaining ones tomorrow.
First off, redstarrobot likes vampires, so she gets more vampires.
Title: Lesser Changes Fandom: The Pretender Character(s): Vampire!Angelo Rating/Warnings: PG or PG-13, mostly for implied violence. Spoilers through 2x09, "FX." Length: 301 words. Author's note: I guess this is a sequel of some kind to "Blood Relations." It'll probably make more sense if you've read that.
( Lesser Changes )
**
This next one is for entropy_house, who requested, "Blake has insomnia."
Title: Keep Your Eyes Open Fandom: Blake's 7 Character(s): Blake Rating/Warnings: G, no spoilers, very mild angst. Length: 100 words
( Keep Your Eyes Open ) Current Mood: tired

 | 11:40 pm - Free Ficlet #4 OK, I'm sorry, I lied. Just one more for right now. Really. This one is for mistraltoes, who said "I'd like to know what Travis II thinks of content warnings. :)"
Title: Travis's Two Cents Fandom: Blake's 7 Character(s): Travis II Rating/Warnings: PG, mild language, possible vague spoilers, crack Length: 259 words
( Travis's Two Cents ) Current Mood: crazy

 | 11:11 pm - Free Ficlet #3 I apologize for the spamminess. I figured these would take me longer than they have so far. Well, after this I might go and read for a while or something.
Anyway, this is for snowgrouse, who asked for "The TARDIS gets clamped. On Ultraworld."
Title: Macrocerebrophobia Fandom: Doctor Who/Blake's 7 Character(s): Seventh Doctor Rating/Warnings: G, silliness, mild spoilers for B7's "Ultraworld" and DW's "Time and the Rani." May well make no sense unless you've seen both of those, anyway. Length: 180 words
( Macrocerebrophobia ) Current Mood: restless
|
 | 10:32 pm - Free Ficlet #2 This one is for kernezelda, who wanted Farscape/Star Trek 09, and offered the second line of dialog here as a prompt. Um, yeah, I have the distinct feeling that most of these are going to end up being very short and very silly.
Title: Purist Fandom: Farscape/Star Trek 09 Character(s): Crichton, Kirk Rating/Warnings: G, no spoilers, nothing but silliness. Length: 158 words
( Purist ) Current Mood: amused
